Cake Care
To ensure your cake stays fresh and delicious, it's important to take good care of it. Here are some instructions to help you get the most out of your cake.
Please refer back to these instructions before collecting your cake to ensure a smooth ride.
1
Transporting your cake home or to your event
The safest area to transport your cake in is the front passenger foot-well of your car. It is not recommended to transport your cake on the seat of your car, in the boot or on someone's lap, as this can lead to tilting/movement of the box and therefore damage to the cake. Drive slowly and avoid sharp turning or sudden stops. Remember if your moving, your cake is moving too!

If it is a hot day, I recommend driving with your air-con on cold to help keep your cake cool.
2
Heat & Humidity
Heat is a cake's arch nemesis. Think of your cake like you would a block of butter, you wouldn't leave it out on the bench in 25 degree heat & the same goes for your cake. Keep your cake chilled until an hour or two before serving, and don't leave it in direct sunlight or heat to avoid melting your buttercream.
3
Carrying/lifting your cake
Please be aware that cakes can often be deceptively heavy.
DO NOT PICK UP THE CAKE BY THE SIDES OF THE BOX.
The frosting will crack or stick to the side of the box, or the box may come apart if carried or picked up incorrectly. Keep your cake level at all times! Always keep one hand under the center of the cake box and the other hand on the lid to stabilize it when moving the cake around.
4
Storing your cake
The dowels used to stabilize your cake are not edible and should be discarded. They are of course 100% food safe.

Any leftover cake can be stored in clingwrap or an airtight container in your fridge, or it can be frozen for up to 3 months.

Please be aware that your cake will more than likely pick up the scent and flavor of any onion, garlic or other strong smelling items in your refrigerator so please keep it away from these items if possible.
