Honesty Shelf
How does the honesty shelf work?
The shelf is located next to my mailbox outside my home-bakery in Muriwai during weekends usually (weather permitting). The shelf is 100% self-service and relies on an honesty-based system.

As a Mum of 4, I often do not have the time to work a market stall or storefront, which is where the idea of my honesty shelf was born! A portable, mini roadside bakery that my community could enjoy, that doesn't interfere with my time with my children.

The shelf is out only on the weeks that I bake, which is not every week as I have many other commitments. I will post on my Facebook & Instagram pages when the shelf will be out so please follow me there to be updated.
How does the shelf work?
The shelf operates on a unique "pay what you can" model, where my visitors have the freedom to browse & choose from a variety of baked goods and pay what they feel comfortable with. Goods are freshly baked & vary each week. I believe that everyone should have access to delicious treats, and I'm excited to share my love of baking with you.

Occasionally, I will run themed days, such as $5 day (where everything on the shelf is $5), or Mystery Bag day where $10 gets you a bag full of yummy treats!
All themed days will be clearly labeled on the shelf.

The shelf is cash only.
Safety-precautions
Food safety is important, which is why I have various measures in place to keep my baked treats in tip-top shape.

Chilled-deserts - My shelf is equipped with an ADORABLE mini-fridge which keeps chilled desserts cool & fresh. Stock is checked & rotated by me as required.

Tamper-proof products - All items on the shelf are sealed to keep them safe from pests (excluding bread loaves). This also means someone can’t open up a package, tamper with it, and an unsuspecting customer wouldn’t know, as it would be obvious that product seal has been broken.

Tamper-proof cash-box - The shelf has a built in cash box, meaning it cannot be opened or removed.
